For Nowruz, Avicenna Academy students put on a great program for their parents and the Sacramento Community every year. Students learn different spring songs, practice a spring related play, and participate in many Nowruz activities. Amoo Nowruz makes an appearance and even has eidi for all the kids. This is a fun filled night for the entire family and has been very popular with the community as well.
We celebrate the longest night of the year by teaching our students about the winter solstice. Each year students sing winter songs and sit around a Korsi and listen to a story. We end the day with an Ash festival and pomegranates.
Students and staff celebrate the end of a successful year together. Teachers present students with their certificates and students thank their teachers for their hard work and dedication. The celebration continues with jumping houses, cotton candy machine, Kabob, and much more.
